The Artex 345 rated well in the Feb 2016 Aviation Consumer and I didn't need the high speed antenna of the Artex 1000 so saved the $70 difference. Like the 7 year battery life and here's hoping I never need this piece of equipment!

I assume 5 is good. I hope to never know if the 345 really works, however it had the features I was looking for at a good price. I wanted the GPS interface so I could hook my King KLN 90B GPS to the ELT so that position would be transmitted. I also wanted the 121.5 frequency as only satellites can hear 406. The 345 fit where my Narco 10C was previously located and the included antenna fit in the hole where the Narco antenna was previously located. I regard the buzzer as a real plus as it ensures one will know if the ELT activated in the hangar or on a hard landing. The longer battery life is appreciated as that is one more cost item - kind of like an engine oil change, you need it, but it is hard to be happy about spending the money.
