I lost my way in the solent and from Lymington ended up over the other side near Yarmouth due to a very strong tide. I managed to get into the harbour gather my thoughts and set a course for lymington. after about 1 hour of paddling I realised I wasn’t getting anywhere so decided to go back to Yarmouth but the tide was so strong I couldn’t get back in I knew then I was in trouble. I did not panic and thought off a plan of action. knowing I had my PLF kept me calm so decided that I was in trouble and activated the PLB and got on the radio to the coastguard who launched the Yarmouth lifeboat. she picked me and my kayak up and took me back into Lymington where I loaded up and drove home thinking all the time what experience I had but although I was disorientated and lost with the knowledge of having a PLB I remained calm. this piece of kit is vital for anyone who is doing an activity and is truly a life saver.Many Many thanks to Res Q Link+.
