What happened?

Location: Aniak

Type: Search and Rescue

At about 0236 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an emergency locator beacon activation in the Aniak area. At about 1100 hours. Six individuals were contacted at the Safety Shelter. They confirmed they previously turned the beacon on after running out of engine oil for their 18 foot boat, which had been towing a second 18 foot disabled boat to Aniak from Kalskag. the Individuals were provided with oil and continued on safety to Aniak.
