ACR OLAS EXTENDER

ACR OLAS EXTENDER

$134.95

The ACR OLAS EXTENDER is a small, portable, wireless range extender that provides the flexibility of scaling your OLAS GUARDIAN Engine Kill Switch and OLAS CORE MOB Alarm Systems for use on larger vessels. While the OLAS Tag and OLAS Float-On transmitters and the OLAS CORE, OLAS GUARDIAN, and OLAS Mobile App receivers allow for coverage on vessels between 40 ft. and 50 ft., the OLAS EXTENDER allows for coverage on vessels up to 100 ft. when used with the OLAS GUARDIAN or OLAS CORE.

The ACR OLAS Extender can only be used with either an OLAS GUARDIAN or OLAS CORE. Each OLAS EXTENDER extends the range by 25ft in a linear direction from the OLAS central hub. 2 Extenders can be used in 1 OLAS system,

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The OLAS EXTENDER effectively increases the length of the ‘virtual tether’ which exists between the OLAS transmitters (OLAS Tag and OLAS Float-On) and the OLAS Receiver (OLAS CORE, OLAS GUARDIAN,). Users on vessels up to 100 ft. in length can therefore now enjoy the comfort in knowing that within 2 to 4-seconds (depending on which OLAS receiver is in use) of a transmitter going missing, all synced receivers (excluding the EXTENDER which is solely used for extending the range of coverage of your OLAS system) will sound a loud audible alarm to alert crew of an MOB incident. In conjunction with the audible alarm(s), the ACR OLAS Mobile App records the latitude and longitude of the incident using the phone or tablets GPS, then aids the crew with the MOB recovery, clearly directing them to the GPS location where the MOB occurred with clear visual signals and bearing data.

The EXTENDER can also be used with OLAS receivers and transmitters to cover areas where transmitter signals may be blocked, thereby providing a greater number of applications of the OLAS MOB System. With the increased range of coverage on larger vessels, the EXTENDER significantly expands the number of potential usage scenarios for the ACR OLAS MOB System, making it applicable to an even greater segment of recreational and commercial vessels.

Can the Extender be used on its own to track OLAS transmitters?

No. The Extender must be connected to either a Core or Guardian unit.

What is the maximum distance?

The Core or Guardian can be used on vessel up to 50ft. If you add in an Extender the recommended vessel length increases by 25 ft. Up to 2 Extenders can be used extending the range up to 100ft vessels.

Where should the Extender be located?

The Extender should be located as close to a signal ‘black ‘spot as possible. This is the area where OLAS transmitters normally go out of range. This can also be checked when setting up the Extender, the control switch on the Extender will turn sold red when it is out of range of the Core or Guardian.  IT should only be in position where it remains connected to the Core or Guardian. Stable connecting is indicated by a flashing red control switch on the Extender.

Should I keep the Extender connected to power?

Yes, we advise to install the Extender next to a 5V USB power source. Although it has an internal battery this is primarily designed to help with setting p the system.

Can I use the OLAS app to control the Extender?

Yes, on each startup of the system it is advised to check that the Extender is connected using the OLAS app. If it is not connected but visible you can use the OLAS app to connect it into the system.

Will the Extender reconnect in to the OLAS system automatically when the vessels power is switched back on?

Yes, if the Extender has previously been connected it will connect automatically. However, it is advised to check using the OLAS app to ensure connection has been made.

How do I connect my Extender into the system?

Bring the Extender next to the Core or Guardian. The core or Guardian will double beep to indicate it is connected and the control switch on the Extender will start flashing red.

Can I connect more than 1 Extender in to the OLAS system?

Yes, currently up to 2 Extenders can be used. Each Extender must connect to the Core or Guardian.

Can one Extender be connected to another Extender?

No, each Extender must connect to the Core or Guardian.

If I connect an Extender is the range increased by 25 ft in all directions?

No, the range extension is only in the same direction the Extender has been placed, e.g. towards the stern or the bow of the vessel.

Does the Extender have an internal alarm and emergency light?

No, the Extender only repeats the OLAS transmitter data.

Can I check the battery status of the Extender?

No this is not possible. It is advised to always keep the Extender connected to power.
