Que s'est-il passé?

The chain of the steering system of my sailing yacht Sogno d’Azul broke, thus having to use the emergency tiller for more than 40 hrs. When a storm was building, I had to activate the epirb and send out a mayday. I was no longer capable of steering the boat in waves up to and larger than 25 ft and winds of 40kts

I was rescued by MV Spar Sirius about 120 nm off the coast of Durban and my sailing boat was towed into Durban, while I was safely on board this 184m long cargo vessel with a crew of 22. The next day the NSRI took over the towing of my boat and I entered the marina of Durban.

mots de sagesse

Within 3 minutes after activation of the epirb, the RCC Cape Town started to organize a rescue operation. Impressive response times!!!
