What happened?

We have been tramping for twenty years and only occasionally hired a locator beacon for longer walks. We decided to buy one and registered it only a couple of days before we started a tramp of the Greenstone/ Routeburn tracks. We walked in to the Greenstone Hut and on the morning of the next day Jocelyn slipped and broke her wrist in two places. This was very painful and Jocelyn was in a state of shock. We activated the beacon and were rescued by the air rescue team and flown to Invercargill Hospital where there was an operating theater should that be necessary. We are immensely grateful for the beacon as we would have been in a very difficult situation without it.

EPILOGUE
Thank you indeed for bringing about our rescue. We were in a very difficult situation and immensely relieved when the helicopter turned up

Words of wisdom
