About SARLink<\/strong><\/p>\n

SARLink was developed to meet the requirements of operation in harsh environments. The unit is waterproof to a depth of one meter and is rated at IP-67.\u00a0Additional environmental testing includes drop, vibration, bump, corrosion, and thermal shock. SARLink is ruggedized to endure the mission of today\u2019s lone workers, law enforcement, firefighting, search and rescue, emergency medical, and other emergency\u00a0service personnel.<\/p>\n

SARLink offers a high resolution color LCD Touchscreen where user menu options are displayed as easily recognized icons. The touchscreen allows quick access to user menus and ease of entering text via an on-screen QWERTY keyboard. SARLink incorporates two dedicated batteries; a rechargeable Lithium Ion for Iridium tracking, texting, and distress messaging, and a dedicated Lithium battery for the 406 MHz locator beacon in compliance with Cospas-Sarsat stringent system requirements. In the event that the Iridium battery is depleted, the dedicated 406 MHz battery will provide an independent, 24 hours of distress transmission.<\/p>\n

Distress Messaging<\/strong><\/p>\n

SARLink delivers simultaneous and\u00a0redundant emergency notification\u00a0through both the Cospas-Sarsat and Iridium satellite networks when the SOS\u00a0button is activated. On-board GPS\u00a0sharing technology allows both alerts to\u00a0include precise geolocation data. The\u00a0two-way communication\u00a0capability combined with the distress\u00a0alerting, allows for the verification of the emergency\u00a0as well as the ability to\u00a0assist in the rescue by providing detailed\u00a0information about the nature of the\u00a0situation.<\/p>\n

Tracking<\/strong><\/p>\n

SARLink provides the\u00a0ability to transmit precise Position\u00a0Location Information (PLI) data at selectable\u00a0intervals ranging from once per minute to\u00a0once per day. Manually activated\u00a0Check-In is also supported and additional features include the ability to create,\u00a0save, and send user defined waypoints.\u00a0SARLink utilizes an open data format protocol and supports\u00a010 byte and 30 byte formats while also including the ability to be\u00a0remotely configured over-the-air.<\/p>\n

Two-Way\u00a0Messaging<\/strong><\/p>\n

SARLink offers two-way satellite\u00a0messaging through Iridium\u2019s network\u00a0which delivers 100% global coverage free\u00a0of gaps, fringe or weak signal areas.\u00a0SARLink can communicate with other\u00a0mobile devices including cell phones,\u00a0satellite phones, and other SARLink units\u00a0using two-way messaging as supported\u00a0by the client\u2019s back-end platform. These\u00a0messaging options include free-text using\u00a0the on-board QWERTY keyboard, canned\u00a0messages, and a combination of free-text\u00a0and canned messages. Brevity codes are\u00a0also supported. Contact lists can be\u00a0pre-defined and canned messages can be\u00a0scripted by the system administrator and\u00a0loaded across all devices.\u00a0SARLink also support email messaging.<\/p>\n

SARLink Usage<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to utilize all SARLink functionality, the 406 MHz Locator Beacon should be registered with NOAA (Click here to register with NOAA<\/a>). Additionally, users will need to purchase a subscription for Iridium Airtime and work with a Backend Service Provider (BES) to obtain backend service. Without an Iridium Airtime subscription or a BES, users will be\u00a0unable to utilize the tracking, two-way communications, and the Iridium distress alerting features.
