By Ron on April 12, 2018 on June 12, 2018 Wanted more security for offshore cruising. Great product. Bought it at West Marine. Impressed with the 406Link function.

Peace of mind

By Chop chop on June 12, 2018 Very impresed with the quality of this Global Fix Pro & its support.

Why Purchased ACR PRO EPIRB

By IT Boater on June 12, 2018 I have a 1972 43' Hatteras, run out on the Great Lakes. I have boated here for 60 years and conditions can be beautiful, but also very rough. I have been in 55mph winds and 15' seas. I wanted both an EPIRB, plus GPS capable for safety and peace of mind. The build quality, deployment features and design are first rate, in my opinion. It can be tested safely, which not all can. So I give it a high rating.

Make your rescue quicker

By Michael F. on September 18, 2017 I flew search and rescue missions for the Coast Guard out of Florida. We were able to locate vessels in distress within hours of sinking if they had an EPIRB. If not, if we did find them, it could take weeks. Any vessel leaving protected waters should carry one. They are very affordable now. Buy one, do it.

By CHUCK on December 27, 2016 top notch equip. great tech support state of the art equip. and reasonable price. I fish 289+ days a year and I want to be able to come back from each and everyone to go out another 200+ days

Piece of mind

Globalfix Pro EPIRB

By Gerbil112 on March 9, 2016 Hopefully never need to use it but should disaster happen, this looks a pretty business-like piece of kit. I'm also impressed by the replacement warranty in the event it saves my life!

hope I will use it!

By scrfasteddie on November 25, 2015 Small enough to carry on the smallest of boats. Just finished rigging a new 22' bay boat and this is the cheapest of all the electronics and the most important if SHTF.

ACR Global Fix Pro Cat II EPIRB with GPS

By Lester H. Beaumont,Tx. via GPSSTORE.com on June 29, 2015 Very great product for your last line of defense when traveling offshore.

By BOATMONKEY on June 18, 2014 How can anyone choose NOT to have an EPIRB aboard their vessel if they sail off-shore. For the price of dinner for your crew, you could make the difference of life or death. Small price to pay for peace of mind and the safety of your loved ones. This is a super easy unit to operate, rugged and worry free

Fortunately haven't had to try it out!

By Andy from Manchester, MA via WestMarine.com on January 29, 2013 An EPIRB is a device you hope you never need, but if you do you want to make sure it works as advertised! The ACR EPIRB is compact, easy to mount, and easy to test. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Just what was expected

By Jim from CT via WestMarine.com on January 29, 2013 Easy to install, register and use.

Service and delivery comments: West Marine allows me to one stop shop for all of my marine needs as well as giving me confidence that the product I purchase is the best available and backed by a West Marines excellent customer service. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I never had to use it! Great!

By Johnnyweeds from Ocean City, NJ via WestMarine.com on January 29, 2013 So far I am satisfied, but I never had to use it. I hope the performance will be exceptional! Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Rating EPIRB quality before using it??

By Capt Steve via WestMarine.com on January 29, 2013 The mount is easy to install and use. I haven't had to use my EPIRB yet so I can't really comment on it's performance. If our boat sinks, the EPIRB does it's job and we're rescued I'll give it rave reviews. If the boat sinks and it doesn't work and we're not rescued..... then I'll give the EPIRB a terrible review but only the fish will hear it. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Small package with big safety value

By Captain Perry from Panhandle of FL via WestMarine.com on January 29, 2013 Been years since I'd replaced by old EPIRB.. Was surprised at how compact and how much more the smaller package would do than my old model..Have never had to use but if the need arises am glad to have this level of technology along for the trip. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A Must Have for Offshore Boating

By Steve from Greensboro, NC via WestMarine.com on July 6, 2011 The Global Fix Pro gives me a lot of confidence going offshore fishing. This GPS EPIRB is very sturdy looking and has absolutely wonderful instructions that come with it. The are clear instructions for registering the beacon and for use and maintenance of the device.

Q: What do EPIRBs do?

Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) are distress radio beacons which transmit location information about ships directly to Search and Rescue forces letting them know that the owner is in grave and imminent danger.  Learn How A Rescue Works

Q: Where can I purchase a beacon?

Visit our Where To Buy dealer locator

Q: Will 406 MHz beacons work anywhere in the world?

Yes, 406 MHz beacons can be used anywhere in the world, including at both poles, just remember that you need a clear view of the sky (they will not work in buildings or caves, etc.)

Q: Is there a subscription fee for beacon registration or rescue service?

Beacon registration is free, should you ever have to activate your beacon, rescue is free in most parts of the world.

Q: What is the difference between a Category I and a Category II EPIRB?

The difference is in how the EPIRB is deployed.

A Category I beacon automatically deploys when a vessel sinks. The beacon floats free at a depth of 1.5 to 3.0m (4.9 to 13.1ft). The EPIRB can be manually activated while in its bracket or manually removed and activated.

A Category II beacon is manually deployed. The EPIRB will automatically activate when removed from its bracket and comes in contact with water, or when it is still in its bracket but a person has lifted the switch to the activation position.
