ACR Electronics Becomes Founding Sponsor of The AustinBlu Foundation

Global leader in safety and survival technologies, ACR Electronics, Inc.,a Drew Marine Company, and the AustinBlu Foundation are collaborating to educate boaters on maritime safety nationwide. Currently, AustinBlu founders are working with Florida legislators to encourage everyday boaters to carry a 406 MHz beacon while out on the water. The objective of new legislation is to provide a financial incentive to boaters with a properly registered beacon by giving them an annual discount on their boater’s registration. The AustinBlu Foundation is also partnering with state agencies such as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to better incorporate emergency maritime communications in their boater safety coursework.

The AustinBlu Foundation will continue to encourage boating safety in their home state of Florida and hope to grow national leverage by teaming up with companies like U.S. beacon manufacturer, ACR Electronics. Gerry Angeli, President of ACR Electronics expressed, “ACR Electronics is proud to be the founding sponsor of the AustinBlu Foundation and fully intends to support and serve as their ‘go-to’ educational resource for 406 MHz technology. ACR looks forward to providing beacon demonstrators, education tables at events and technical tours for foundation supporters”.

Carly and Blu formed the AustinBlu Foundation in the wake of the tragic loss of their son, Austin Stephanos. AustinBlu representatives will be at the ACR Electronics booth C-384 on Thursday, February 11th at the Miami Boat Show. Blu stated, “We’re honored to be working with an innovative group like ACR – their technology saves lives and that’s what our foundation is all about.” Carly added, “ACR sells life-saving technology, and our foundation will work hard to create awareness and opportunities to get it into the hands of more boaters.” The foundation focuses on three areas of promoting boating safety and they are: education, legislation and technology.
