En cas de collision, l’ ELT s’active automatiquement et \u00e9met la tonalit\u00e9 balay\u00e9e standard sur 121,5 et 243,0 MHz. Toutes les 50 secondes pendant 520 millisecondes (protocole de message long), l’\u00e9metteur 406 MHz s’active et transmet un message num\u00e9rique cod\u00e9 au syst\u00e8me satellite Cospas\/Sarsat. L’ ELT peut \u00eatre programm\u00e9 avec l’adresse 24 bits de l’avion ainsi qu’avec les informations de latitude et de longitude du syst\u00e8me de navigation de l’avion lorsqu’il est utilis\u00e9 avec l’interface Artex ELT \/NAV -B (r\u00e9f. 453-6501). Le B406-4 est con\u00e7u pour interagir avec le syst\u00e8me d’alerte principal de Boeing, en conjonction avec le panneau de commande du cockpit DZUS.
