I was invited by a new friend on a 30 mile offshore scuba dive trip. \u00a0He is older and I was not sure of many things, like his diving skills or health, if he had all the necessary marine and safety equipment on board or how mechanically sound his vessel was. \u00a0The weather was perfect for our trip and the diving went well. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the return home the boat began experiencing multiple mechanical and electrical problems and eventually completely broke down. \u00a0A huge storm approached and the rain and waves flooded the boat and we began to sink. \u00a0After 4 hours communicating with the Coast Guard and waiting for assistance we lost radio contact, we were hopelessly adrift and the storm was sinking the vessel. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Running out of time, daylight and totally out of options, I activated my ResQLink View that I had purchased the night before. \u00a0The US Coast Guard found us within an hour and 30 minutes and rescued us from the sinking boat. \u00a0Without this device, we would\u2019ve been floating in the Gulf of Mexico overnight waiting to be found. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was a very scary and emotional situation since I couldn\u2019t communicate with my wife and kids and I knew they were very worried and upset. \u00a0When I hit the button, I was comforted to know that instantly the rescue responders were aware of my location and immediately notified my wife that I had been located and help was on the way. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That peace of mind while still going through this horrific ordeal helped me overcome the challenges that still lay ahead to get out of that situation safely. \u00a0I couldn\u2019t imagine floating all night in the cold and dark waters while my family was up worried sick about me. This device saved the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
