ACR Electronics, Inc., announced today that they have received
authorization by the FAA to open and maintain a designated Part 145
Repair Station to service ARTEX
brand name ELT's in their 55,000 square foot facility in
Ft. Lauderdale, FL. ACR Electronics, Inc. is the Original Equipment
Manufacturer (OEM) of the Artex brand of ELT's. Previously, the
Artex ELT's were repaired by an authorized subcontractor in
Prescott, Arizona. -

On April 6th, the four-man crew of Ocean Adventure
Rowing and Education (O.A.R Northwest) attempting a Trans-Atlantic
Expedition from Dakar to Miami was derailed after their boat
capsized about 400 miles north of Puerto Rico. -
The 4
rowers were all equipped with ACR ResQLink Personal Locator
Beacons which they promptly activated to facilitate their own
rescue. Coast Guard Sector San Juan received their 406 MHz
distress message at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday...
